ABOUT ME
I’m Gideon Long, a freelance journalist based in Santiago, Chile, where I work mostly for the BBC and The Economist. I’ve also written about Chile and South America for Reuters, Time magazine, The Guardian, The Observer, The Financial Times, The Independent, the Miami Herald and many other media. Before going freelance I was staff at Reuters, where I worked as a correspondent in London, Madrid, Rome, Dublin and Santiago. I reported from Iraq and Lebanon on the conflicts in the Middle East. I’ve covered four football World Cups in Brazil, South Africa, South Korea and France, and the Olympic Games in Athens and Sydney. I work in print, radio and television.
