I’m the Andean Correspondent for The Financial Times, covering Colombia, Venezuela, Peru, Ecuador and Bolivia from the Colombian capital Bogotá. Previously I was based in Chile, working mostly for The BBC and The Economist on a freelance basis, but also for many other media outlets, from Time magazine to The Guardian to ABC in Australia. I have over 20 years of experience as a journalist. I started at Reuters, where I was staff for 14 years. I’ve covered conflicts in Iraq and Lebanon, World Cups in South Korea and South Africa and dozens of other major news stories. More recently I’ve started teaching journalism to others. I’ve run training courses for the Thomson Reuters Foundation in Argentina and Venezuela and for the United Nations in Panama. I work in print, radio and television.
