FT interview: Colombia’s president on Maduro, drugs and the economy

I’ve been a journalist for over 30 years. I started at Reuters, where I was staff for 14 years. I covered conflicts in Iraq and Lebanon, World Cups in South Korea and South Africa and dozens of other major news stories. I was chief correspondent in Dublin and Santiago. I then went freelance in Chile, working mostly for The BBC and The Economist but for other media too, from Time magazine to The Guardian to NPR. From there I moved to Colombia where I was the FT’s Andean correspondent. In recent years I’ve started teaching journalism to others. I’ve run training courses for the Thomson Reuters Foundation in Argentina, Colombia and Venezuela and for the United Nations in Panama. I work in print, radio and television. I currently work on the BBC’s Money & Work team in England.
