It is not often that a disaster becomes the defining moment of a career but it could be argued that that is the case for departing Chilean President, Michelle Bachelet.

She is about to hand over the presidency, and while some of her country lies in ruins after one of the most powerful earthquakes on record, it seems her reputation has survived intact.
